Judi Bauerlein

Judi’s  journey into Montessori and education for peace and eventually to the splendor of the cosmos began serendipitously.  In 1959 during her college life, it was announced that a speaker was coming to speak on Montessori education.  The speaker, Nancy McCormick Rambusch changed her life that night.

In 1972 Judi enrolled in a Montessori  3-6 Teacher Training program.  In 1975, an opportunity arose for her to work in a 6-9 elementary program, in one of the first Montessori alternative programs in the United States. During this time she had the fortunate opportunity to attend a class on Montessori Cosmic Education presented by Ursula Thrush.  This class deepened her understanding of and commitment to  Dr. Montessori's vision of Education for Peace.

She also began teaching adults who were taking the Montessori training.  She has taught  in centers throughout the United States and several other countries including Mexico, Taiwan, China, and Malaysia.  Judi became a member of the American Montessori Society Board and served as president, was honored to be an AMS Living Legacy, and president of the AMS Peace and Social Justice committee.

She is deeply grateful for that day in 1959 which started her on her life’s journey which continues to evolve.
