Marge Ellison
Margaret Ellison has passionately championed the Montessori movement since the early 1970s. She founded Montessori Country Day School of Houston in 1979 to provide working families full-day, year-round Montessori care and education. Over the decades, Marge has lovingly mentored emerging Montessorians around the world—helping open schools in Moscow and Nairobi, Kenya, donating time and money, presenting workshops and developing webinars. She has taught and supervised early childhood and administration level adult learners and has long served as president of Houston Montessori Center Teacher Education Program Board of Directors.
Marge has served on the AMS Board of Directors as Chair of Heads of Schools and numerous committees including the Living Legacy Committee and the Montessori Life Advisory/Editorial Board. Additionally, Marge is a prolific community leader, serving as President of Civic Club of the Houston Museum Area Municipal Association, Chair of the Texas Child Care Advisory Board, President of the Montessori Advisory Board of North Harris College, and President of the Houston Children’s Enrichment Fund.
