Early Childhood

Montessori Teacher Courses for Early Childhood: 2.5 through 6 years old

Houston Montessori Center has been serving Early Childhood adult learners since 1974. The Early Childhood faculty have decades of hands-on classroom experience and instructional experience as teacher educators. Bridget Tomlinson is the Level Coordinator, an instructor, and a field consultant.

The summer in-person program is designed to prepare you to enter an early childhood Montessori classroom with a knowledge of individual lessons and Montessori philosophy. Through the summer classes, you will receive hands-on instruction with Montessori materials and have the time to practice and refine presentations all under the guidance of experienced faculty members. Every day there are discussions around the topics of Montessori philosophy and implementation, child development, and observation; all intended to prepare you to serve young children in your own Montessori classroom. During the school year your support from HMC will continue with video calls, online and in-person seminars, classroom visits, and one-on-one communications with faculty.

Our Early Childhood adult learners come from all over the US, and some from counties in Europe, Asia, South and Central America. When you enter the HMC Early Childhood program you become part of a cohort, people who will be working with you for the duration of your program. This cohort creates a network for support, providing valuable interactions and on-going opportunities for collaboration and encouragement among peers that last far beyond your time in the program. Should you ever seek a refresher after receiving your credential, you are always welcome to return to HMC free of charge.

We hope you will consider the long-standing reputation of HMC’s Early Childhood program when you look at pursuing a Montessori Early Childhood credential. We would love to have you join our HMC family.
